Nothing proves that “two heads are better than one” quite like DJ collaborations. When two or more world-class artists come together, the combination of unique genres and styles often results in a massive tune. Here are some of our favorite collaborations of the summer.
New World Punx- Romper
To the delight of many long-time fans, Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz premiered their first single together during A State of Trance 600 in New York. Combining each of their distinctive styles, this power duo created one of the hardest hitting trance anthems of the summer. The single was released in June, and is available on SoundCloud as a free download. Although this is only Schulz and Corsten’s first official single as New World Punx, we predict the duo will be producing more exciting tunes in the near future.
Hardwell and W&W- Jumper
If Hardwell and W&W are both known for anything, it’s that they definitely know how to make a house rocking festival anthem. Combine their unique energies, and one can only imagine what they will bring to our ears. “Jumper” features an extended intro and buildup followed by a wildly energetic drop that will make any crowd go crazy. Their single has stayed in the Beatport Top 100 for weeks, and we expect to hear this song at many festivals to come. Grab the free download on SoundCloud and check it out for yourself.
Dillon Francis and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs- Without You
Dillon Francis has proven time and time again that diversity is his forte. While Francis is known for his crazy antics, his new single, featuring vocals by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, exposes the more emotional side of his musical spectrum. Francis reveals that the song was written during a time that he was having relationship problems of his own. TEED’s soothing vocals combined with the beautiful synths and melody of Dillon Francis’s music flawlessly reflect the story of a troubled relationship, creating a tune perfect for summer relaxation.
Steve Aoki, Chris Lake & Tujamo- Boneless
Put three insane artists together, and you will probably come up with one supremely catchy tune. Steven Aoki combines his notoriously ridiculous beats with the mind power of Chris Lake and Tujamo, creating the old-school inspired hit “Boneless.” The catchy drop may get stuck in your head for hours…don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Seven Lions & Myon & Shane 54- Strangers
What happens when you put a talented dubstep and renowned trace artist together? Myon & Shane 54 and Seven Lions have proven that if done right, the result can be something absolutely unforgettable. The artists’ new single, which includes beautiful vocals by Tove Lo, melds Seven Lions’s smooth and powerful dubstep beats with the euphoric trance synths of Myon and Shane 54. The song has several different drops that keep it unpredictable. “Strangers” is also notable because it sheds light on the creativity that can arise from combining two different and influential genres.
